William “Jack” Dean aka Reverend Groundhog, 77, of Elgin died Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Flint, Michigan. Born in Porterville, Mississippi on April 2, 1932, he was the son of Lemon and Lula (Leggett) Dean.

He worked at Woodruff and Edwards for 32 years and then went on to work for the City of Elgin for 7 years until his retirement. William enjoyed talking to friends on his CB radio during his free time. He will be remembered for being a strong willed man and will be missed by many family and friends.

William is preceded in death by his parents; two children, Cheryl Dean and Jerome Watson; one brother, Willie Irving Dean; and aunt, Clara Howard.

William leaves to cherish his memory; three daughters Elaine Dean
(Harold) Watson of Flint Mi.; Pat (Harry) Montgomery of Tiptonville Tn.; Sharon (Cornelius Patton) D. Branch of Elgin; three Sons Fernando (Linda) Dean, Steve (Joann) Jones, Kenneth (Theresa) Jones all of Elgin; Sister in law Debra Dean of Elgin; A special cousin Willie Mae Laws of Sacramento Ca.: 15 grand-kids; 16 great grand-kids, 3 nephews, 2 nieces, and a host of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 12:00 PM at O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, The Rev. Willie Tate, officiating. Burial will follow at Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
