Wesley H. (Jack) Schulz, 93, of Elgin died Monday, February 16, 2009 at Heritage Manor, Elgin after a short illness. Born on July 25, 1915 in Salem, WI, he was the son of Albert and Anna Schulz.

Jack worked at DuKane Corporation in St. Charles until his retirement. Jack was drafted into the Army on August 21, 1942. He was discharged on September 27, 1945 obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant, crew chief on B24 bombers. He saw combat service in Africa, Italy, Balkans and France. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Silver Battle Star and 2 Bronze Battle Stars.

He was a life member of VFW Post 5036 of St. Charles and a life member of the Royal Order of the Moose, Elgin Lodge 799.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Viola DeHart, Leona Bass and Goldie Ostlund; two brothers, Harold and Gordon; and two dear friends, Dorothy Daum and Enola (Lee) Crouse.

He is survived by nieces, Darlene (Charles) Green of St. Charles, Norma (Donald) Sleeman of Elgin; and nephews, Lowell (Paticia) DeHart of St. Charles and Mike (Linda) Schulz of Paulding, MI.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Services at 11:30 AM at the O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. Legion of the Moose will preside with Pastor David Ezekiel of St. Paul United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at River Hills Memorial Park, Rt. 25 S. Batavia, IL with Military Honors provided by Elgin Post #57 American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Vitas Hospice, 580 Waters Edge Dr., Lombard, IL 60148.
