Toribia Hernandez, 80, of So. Elgin died Friday, February 1, 2008 at St. Alexius Medical Center. Born in Monolithe, CA on April 16, 1928, she was the daughter of Doraciano and Jesus (Solano) Chagoya.

She spent her time knitting and sewing, and will be remembered for being a loving, cheerful mother and grandmother.

Toribia was preceded in death by her husband, Irineo Hernandez.

She is survived by 6 children, Lazaro Hernandez, Adelina (Jose) Hernandez, Elodia (Santiago) Chavez, Maria S. (Vicente) Gutierrez, Ana Hernandez, and Roberto Hernandez; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We loved her very much she will always be remembered by family and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 4, 2008 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M., with Fr. Leonardo Maldonado, officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fr. Leonardo Maldonado, presiding. Burial will follow at Bluff City Cemetery.
