A celebration of the life of Suzanne R. Christenson will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, at the First Congregational Church of West Dundee. Mrs. Christenson died on Aug. 22, 2017, at Heritage Health nursing facility in Elgin.
Visitation with family will be from 10-11:15, with a short service starting at 11:30 am.
She was born in Berlin, Wis., on May 18, 1929, to H. Raymond and Mary Steaffens. Mrs. Christenson graduated from Berlin High School in 1947. She then moved to Elgin in 1951 upon her marriage to the late Claude Christenson. She worked as a secretary for many years, in particular with the City of Elgin and the Illinois Appellate Court, as well as several Elgin-area law offices.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Tammy) Christenson of Sleepy Hollow, and Thomas Christenson of Elgin; a stepdaughter, Sandy Vecchio of Elgin; three grandsons, Benjamin (Teresa) Christenson of Oak Park; Nathan (Kariann) Christenson of Geneva; Joshua (Kendra) Christenson of Elgin; four step-granddaughters, Sarah Vecchio of Oak Park; Marnie Christenson (Kelly) Palmer of Denver, Colo.; Brittany (Chris) Teson of Woodstock; Taylor (Scott) Everett of Long Beach, Calif; and one step-grandson, Matthew (Amy) Vecchio of Elgin. In addition, she is survived by four great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Christenson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Claude Christenson; her brother William Steaffens of Stoughton, Wis.; and a stepson, Jon C. Christenson of Colorado Springs, Colo.
