Rosa (Rosita) “Pachanga” M. Pimentel, 90, of Rockford, formerly of Elgin, died peacefully Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the Alma Nelson Manor, Rockford, surrounded by family. Born in Puerto Rico on July 22, 1917, she was the daughter of Maximinci Santana and Marcelina (Pimental) Calderon.
She moved to this area in 1947, and always gave to the community welcoming them into her home as it they were her part of own family; her heart was open to everyone. Rosa, and her cooking, will be missed by both family and friends.
Rosa is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Luis and Felix; and 2 sisters, Carmen and Helena; and special friend, Teodoro “Chiquitin” Lopez.
She is survived by her only son Raphael (Gloria) Lugo, Sr.; 3 grandchildren, Mary Jo (Casey) Vuorenmaa, Rafael Lugo, Jr. and Peggy Lee Lugo; 7 great-grandchildren, Christian, Gunnar, and Zeke Vuorenmaa, Jordan and Nicholas Payne, Andres Diaz and Brandon Latigo.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 16, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Pastor Margaret of Discovery Church, officiating. Burial will be private.
