Mrs. Jean E. Goldner, 85, of Hawk Point, MO, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Troy Manor, Troy. She was born on Aug. 15, 1925 in Tescola, IL, a daughter of Bill and leta (From) VonLanken.
Jean met the love of her life, Joseph “Joe” Goldner, in her hometown of Elgin, IL. They became acquainted at high school. The rest is history. At the age of 19, Jean and Joe were united in holy matrimony in Elgin, IL. After Joe’s time in the U.S. Air Force, the couple moved overseas. While working for Mobil Oil Co., the Goldner’s lived in Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and other countries. After 20 years in foreign countries, Jean and Joe returned to the states. Together they enjoyed sailing on Lake Michigan and the Wisconsin Lakes. According to her husband Joe, Jean was a “good woman” who took excellent care of her husband. They were married for over 60 years. For the past year, they have resided with their nephew.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband, Joe Goldner of Hk. Pt; many
nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings; Alwin, Royce, Linn and Marge. Jean will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Elgin, IL, O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home in charge of burial arrangements. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the McCloy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379 (636) 528-8244.
