Michael (Mike) Robert Fierke Sr, 78 of Marengo, IL formally of Elgin unexpectedly passed away in his home on March 6, 2024.

Mike was born on January 20, 1946 in Elgin, IL son to Robert Fierke and Norda (Shriner) Landers.

Mike was a veteran of the US Army serving his time being stationed in Germany.

Mike lived in Elgin most of his life where he met his wife Florence (Tucker) Fierke in High School. The two married in March 1968 and had four loving children. Mike was known to his grandchildren by the name “Poppo”

Mike’s passion was his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Mike always had his motorcycle visible in his garage to show off his hard work. Mike was known for sitting outside cleaning his bike and listening to rock and roll music. Mike would also toy around with his bike trying to figure out all the little things that bothered him.  

Mike had a love for racing in any form. When Mike was younger, he would take his family on weekends and head out to Byron or Great Lakes Dragway racing in his 68 Camaro. Mike had his own little racing team “Mike Fierke’s Racing Team” in which he was very proud of.

Mike had a huge heart and would help others whenever help was needed. Mike also was a proud owner to many furry friends over the years. Especially his Dogs, Bruit, Dusty and Annie. Mike also had a ferret named Wheezy, and countless pet cats.

Mike worked as a car mechanic at many locations as well as Eby-Brown. Mike took on what was supposed to be temporary job driving a taxi in the 80’s. Little did he know he would eventually end up being a successful owner operator with A1 Cab #00 for almost 30 years. Mike was well liked by everyone around him especially his elderly clientele. 

Mike is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Florence (Flo) Fierke, his father Robert, and mother Norda, step-father Wayne Landers.

Michael is survived by his loving children Dedra (Keith) Jereb, Michael Fierke Jr. (Debbie Keeton), Kerri (Dan) Seymore and Natasha (Boyce) Bitz. His beloved grandchildren Nico, Ashley (Antoniu), Gage, Wayne, Sequoya, Cody, Brea (Brandon), Brandon, Ethan, Nathan, Meliah, Makynna and great-grandchildren Addelyn, Ava, Aiden and baby girl due in August.

A visitation will be held Thursday, March 21st from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the O'Connor - Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin 364 Division Street.  Burial will be private.
