Mary Louisa "Lou" Mutter, 81 of Elgin, died Friday, August 7, 2015 at her home. Born May 9, 1934 in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of John Howard and Mary Louisa (Smith) Greene.
She owned the home on the block where all the kids and neighbors visited, and all were welcome. Lou was a proud member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Women’s Club, the Elgin Women’s Club, and the Garden Club. She delivered for Meals on Wheels. Lou was a dedicated volunteer at church, school, and throughout the community. She loved celebrating all holidays and spending time with her family.
Lou is preceded in death by her loving husband Fred of 41 years, and her parents.
She is survived by her 6 children, Mary (Jeff) Lohrbach of Elgin, Catherine Mutter of McHenry, Anna (Jeff) Doran of St. Charles, Theresa (Robert) Brown of Elgin, Frederick (Melissa) Mutter of Grayslake, Margaret (Don) Transue of Elgin; 11 grandchildren, many relatives throughout IL and KY, and many friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 4 until 8:00 p.m. at the O‘Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin and funeral mass celebrated Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
