Marcella J. Hageli, 99, "Marcy" was born June 20th, 1919 in Ames, Iowa. She passed on June 11th, 2019, nine days short of her 100th birthday. She was the 2nd born out of 9 brothers and sisters and she was the last to pass away.
Marcy worked for the Chicago Police Department as a school crossing guard for 53 years. She retired in 2007 at the age of 88. She loved her job and every single child she crossed safely to and from school each day. Rain or shine, Marcy was out there every single day. She received two recognition awards for her outstanding devotion and punctuality. In her spare time Marcy enjoyed playing the harmonica and was very good at it. She will be missed by many.
Marcy was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Sr. and son, John J. Jr.
Dear mother of six children, John Jr. (deceased), Patricia Drozd (Tom), Daniel, Debie Kasch, Paul (Anna), and Michael (Denise). Fond grandmother of fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are private.
My heart was broken when I try to call your moms phone and heard it was out of service.
My first thought is she was in hospital. Try to call hospital and she wasn’t there.
Got on line google and found out she passed.
She was a amazing friend and women.
We knew your mom as we lived in the lake house in Wisconsin by your dad and she came and visited.
We talked for years.
