Lola M. Ewert, 97, of Elgin died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Heritage Manor surrounded by her family. Born in Huntley on November 15, 1911, she was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Miller) Ewert.
She worked at Elgin Watch Factory and went on to retire from Elgin Mental Health Center. Lola was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for many years, and gave much of her time volunteering at soup kitchens and other charitable events.
Lola is preceded in death by her parents; brother Clarence (Dick) Ewert, Alfred (Pat) Ewert, and Floyd Ewert; and two sisters, Anna Gannon and Marie Duy.
She is survived by two brothers, Vernon (Bud) Ewert of Huntley, and Theodore (Ted) Ewert of Footville, WI, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin, Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Huntley.
