Linda L. Graves, age 64 of Elgin, passed away peacefully in Presence St. Joseph Hospital on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Linda was born in Bethune, Colorado on December 17, 1952 to Aggie Henderson and Harry Diekman. She married Kelvin L. Graves in 1975 in Denver, CO, moved to Elgin in 2000 and divorced in 2007.
Linda managed a Subway restaurant while in Denver and when she moved to Elgin she used her sewing and quilting talents to make a living. Linda was instrumental in assisting her mother-in-law during her illness.
Linda was a faithful member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for many years, as long as her health allowed. She was not only a church member but had a special relationship with the Lord and she loved everyone. Linda was a woman of great faith. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 27.
Linda is survived by her mother, Aggie Henderson of Denver, Co and two children: Gynda Rocher of Baltimore, Maryland and Paul Henderson of Denver, CO, two brothers: Alan Diekman and Ron Rhea both of Colorado.
Linda was blessed to marry into a family that loved her and stood by her; four sisters: Jacqueline Williams of Hiram, GA, Kathy Smith-Gleghorn of Atlanta, GA, Pamela Harris of Mt. Prospect, IL and Sandra (Anthony) Brooks of Elgin and one brother, Johnnie Richard of Elgin; special friend, Joyce Abbott and a host of nieces and nephews and her St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Family. Linda was truly loved by many.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Harry Diekman, mother-in-law, James Esther Graves, and daughter, BeLynda Ann Nolan.
Visitation and service will be held at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church at 308 Ann Street in Elgin on Friday, October 6. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow the service at Lakewood Memorial Park, 30W730 US Hwy. 20 in Elgin with Pastor Charles A. Ramsay, Sr. officiating.
