Lauraine “Pat” Roder, 87, of Elgin, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Arden Courts of Geneva surrounded by her family.
She was born February 13, 1924, in Joliet to John A. Ryan and Loretta “Laura” Shea Ryan.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1966. She set the shorthand speed record at Joliet Central High School in 1942, and it was not equaled for many years. She went on to work for Will County Price Administration (Ration Board).
After she had children she was a devoted stay-at- home mother. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin.
She is survived by four children, Mary Lou Roder, Michael Roder, Jack(Bonnie) Roder and Dan (Nancy) Roder and four grandchildren, Carrie (Craig) Goesel, Matt Roder, Sheila (Jason) Provenzano and Elisha Roder; and six great-grandchildren, Nina, Nathaniel, Patrick, Edith, Shea and Remy.
She was preced in death by her husband, John J. “Jack” Roder, a grandson, Sean Roder, her parents, and a sister, Mary Florence Keene.
The visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the Mass is celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9 at St. Laurence Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph K. Kulak will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to St. Laurence Catholc Church Catholic Education Fund.
