
Kenneth (Kenny) Scot Mayes, born in Elgin on July 15, 1968 to Robert and Janet (Fritz), died October 5, 2019.
Kenny graduated from Elgin High School in 1986. He went on to attend welding and various shop classes at Elgin Community College, which lead to a variety of jobs before serving a five year apprenticeship for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 501. He worked as a pipefitter for over 20 years.
Kenny enjoyed riding his motorcycle and participated in several Little Angles charity runs. He was a good friend, always helping in time of need.
Ken was preceded in death by his brother; John Robert Mayes who died on December 3, 2007, his paternal grandparents; James and Hazel Mayes and his maternal grandparents; Harry and Mabel Fritz.
Ken is survived by daughter; Sarabeth Lorraine Mayes, parents; Robert and Janet Mayes, sister-in-law; Janet Mayes, nephew; Jacob and niece; Julianne Mayes, Uncle and Aunt; Ron and Judy Fritz, cousins; Eric Fritz, Melissa Kurek, and Lacie and Trevor Kurek.
Arrangements have been entrusted to O’Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, 847-741-1400. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in Elgin, on Tuesday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. with a luncheon immediately following in the church hall. Donations in honor of Kenny, may be made to JourneyCare Hospice or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
