John D. Margis, Sr. of Carpentersville, died Monday, June 16, 2014 at Sherman Hospital. The son of John and Cleo (Hauser) Margis, he was born April 24, 1948 in Chicago.
He was the loving husband of Mary for 22 years, and he was a proud member of the Local 11 Roofers Union and worked as a roofer for 30 years. John enjoyed hunting and fishing, and the Craftsman’s Tool Section of the local Sears and ACE Hardware.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son John D. Margis, III.
John is survived by his loving wife; 3 sons, John (Tracy) Margis; Thaddeus (Jennifer) Margis, and Shawn Michael Margis; six daughters, Julie (Chuck) Abrell, Dionne (Monte) Mast, Amy (Ian) Rego, Falon (Jeremy) Jakel, Tracy (Ryan) Gutierrez, and Amber Margis; 24 grandchildren; 1 sister, Rose (Steve) Rossignol; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 19th from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 at The Carpenter’s House Community Church, 201 N. Kennedy, Carpentersville, with Pastor William Legge, officiating

i miss you. john you got to wear your hat. noone can tell you no about that. i told everyone i knew to tell. harry was really upset and so was ricky your brother -in-law. all the kids have been real good to me. they been watching over me everyday so far. john i am really worried of shawn. please give him strengh today whrn he goes and see christina to tell her. and please give all of us the strengh for tomorrow. i know we will see each other again but can it be tonite. i love you mary.
