Ignacio Rivas, 73 of Carpentersville, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago.  Born in Tlacotes, Ojocaliente, Zac. Mexico on October 23, 1940 he was the son of Nicolas and Juana Herrera Rivas.  He was the loving husband of Loreto for 51 years.  He was a proud employee of Counrtyside Nursery, Crystal Lake.  He enjoyed his loving family, grilling,  gardening, and travel to and from Mexico.

Ignacio is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Maria del Carmen.

He is survived by his wife Loreto; 2 sons, Jesus (Laura) of Carpentersville, and Ignacio (Lupe) of Aguascalientes, Mexico; 4 daughters, Amparo Rivas of Carpentersville, Martha also of Carpentersville, Maria de Lourdes of Aguascalientes, and Maria del Rosario (Victor) or Aguascalientes; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.  Many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division Street, Elgin from 4 until 8:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Carpentersville with Fr. Josue Lara, officiating.  Burial will be in Aguascalientes, Mexico.  For more information please call (847) 741-1400.
