Guadalupe Castro, 83 of Elgin died Sunday, February 15, 2015 at her daughter’s home. The daughter of Julian and Rafaela (Gonzalez) Miranda, she was born December 11, 1931 in McAllen, TX.
She worked 33 years for Hawley Products, St. Charles where she worked as an assembler. Guadalupe enjoyed gardening, and was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
Lupita was preceded in death by her loving husband Antonio of 55 years; three sons, Paul, Samuel, and Jose Castro; one sister, Juana Castro, one brother Erasmo Miranda.
She is survived by three daughters; Rosemary (Craig) Bohne of Elgin, Josephine (Manuel) Perez of TX, Cristina (Joseph McKeown) Castro of Elgin; one son, Antonio (Leisa) Castro, Jr. of Elgin; 2 sisters, Virginia Molina and Aurora (Luis) Carrera; 3 brothers, Baldomero (Marcel) Miranda, Braulio “Ney” (Carmen) Miranda, Larry Miranda; one Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 19th from 4 – 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. at the O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, and again from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday with Fr. Jesus Dominguez, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Elgin. For more information please call (847) 741-1400.
