Grace Mae Alvarez (Bae Mae), 76, made her journey to Heaven on Jan, 29, 2016. She passed away peacefully at her home in South Elgin with loved ones at her side. Grace was born on January 20, 1940 in Shelby MS. the daughter of the late Gracie Mae Clark, and Albert C McMillon. She is survived by five daughters, Eartha (Fred) Blalark, Vera Passmore, Tanya (Lynn) Wolf, Ruby Williams, Carla Williams, and two sons Willie Spates and Tony Williams, 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Ruby McMillon and brother Albert McMillon, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Cassandra Stein Williams and two grand children Tatianna Spates and Chimeena Spivey. She grew up and attended school in Greenville MS. where she accepted Christ at a young age, eventually relocating to Elgin, IL where she was a public servant with the Department of Health and Children and Family Services for many years. She was also employed by US Can for many years as well. In her spare time she enjoyed teaching Spanish at Elgin Community College. She had a passion for collecting many things including paintings and antiques, she also loved going to garage sales and dancing. She was a very generous and Loving Mother. She often opened her home to care for strangers and friends in need. She was very strong in her faith and was affectionately known in Church as "Mother Grace" where she would often dance and earned the expression "The Grace Shuffle" for her Holy Spirit dancing. The wake will be on February 6, 2016 from 9:00am - 10:00am at the Living Gospel Church in Elgin on Saturday, and the funeral service will immediately follow. After the service, the burial will be at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin. Flowers may be delivered to the Living Gospel Church in Elgin at 1515 Dundee Ave, Elgin, IL 60120 (847) 742-0083
