Ellen Louise McEnerney, 93 of Chicago formerly of Elgin, died Thursday, October 31st at University of Chicago Hospital.

Born August 1, 1920 in Lisbon, ND., she was the daughter of Hans & Marie (Johnson) Bakke.

Ellen was a proud member of the Armed Services having served in Africa and Italy  within the Allied HQ during WW II.  She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority, and an avid bridge player. Ellen was a devoted wife to John for 46 years until his death in 1991. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by one daughter Mary Woolley, of Washington DC; two sons, Michael (Irene) of Honolulu, HI, and Lawrence (Catherine) of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and   many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 5th from 8:30 a.m., at the O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin, until time of graveside service at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Elgin.  For more information please call (847) 741-1400.
