Edward S. “Ed” Davis was born on September 27, 1924, in Covington, Tennessee and died on August 8, 2011 at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, Illinois. He was 86 years old.
He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He worked at Toastmaster in Elgin, Sunbeam International in Oakbrook, IL and Revcor in Carpentersville, IL, until he retired in 1992.
He married Dolores (Kitty) Schroeder on December 16, 1945 in Salem, South Dakota and lived in Elgin, Illinois, for 47 years. They had 3 children, DiAnn Adams, Wendy (Stanley) Werner, and Stanley (Mary Anne Evans) Davis. He had 2 grandsons, Rich (Aimee) Adams and Jim (Doreen) Adams, a granddaughter, Melissa Davis, and a great-granddaughter, Peyton.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin for 60 years serving as president of the Lutheran Men’s Club and on several church committees – finance, stewardship, and worship and served as an usher. He, along with his wife, delivered Meals on Wheels to the Elgin area seniors, worked at the Holy Trinity Soup Kitchen, and made many hospital, nursing home and shut-in visits for over 20 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister, and his wife, Kitty.
Visitation, 11:30 a.m., and the funeral service, 1 p.m., are both at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL on Friday, August 12, 2011. Burial services are private. Memorials may be given to the church.
