Doris A. (Fischer) Keating, born in Vermilon, Alberta, Canada on August 24, 1918 passed away on September 11, 2016 in Portland, Oregon.  

At the age of 6, she immigrated to the United States with her parents Benno and Jane Fischer, sister Josephine and brothers Thomas, William, and Benno. The family settled in Elgin, Illinois.  

On May 30, 1940, Doris married John R. Keating who preceded her in death in 1972. While living in Elgin, Doris was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was an employee of Beck’s Office and Supply Store in downtown Elgin for over 20 years. 

Doris retired from Beck’s in 1985 and moved to Portland, Ore. with her daughter and granddaughter. Since 1956 she spent her summers on Lake Ripley in Cambridge, WI and attended St. Pius X Church during those summer months. 

Doris is survived by all her ten children: John Michael, Kathleen, Patrick, Timothy, Jane, Daniel, Kevin, Lenore, Maureen and Malachy; daughters-in-law Connie, Kay, Jayne, Frances and Kathy; sons-in-law David and Dusty; grandchildren Jennifer, Aaron, Ruth, Dmitri, Jacob, Jaymarie, Karen, Mark, Isaac, Joseph; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Spending time with her family was her greatest pleasure. She was so very loved by all those who knew her.  

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 9:00 am at St. Joseph Church Catholic Church, 272 Division Street, Elgin, IL.
