Cynthia Marie Mitchell, the eldest child of Fred Lee Mitchell and Evelyn (Jones) Mitchell, was born August 21, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. Cindy, as she was commonly called, professed her faith in Christ when she attended Douglas Park Baptist Church (Chicago, Illinois) then later when she became a member of Second Baptist Church (Elgin, Illinois). She remained a faithful and active member singing in the choir. She is fondly remembered as a beautiful vibrant spirit.
Cindy attended Nathaniel Pope Elementary School, John Spry Junior High School and received her diploma from Robert Lindblom Technical High School in 1977. She furthered her education by obtaining a Certificate of Achievement in Stenography from Bryant and Stratton College. Cindy attended Taylor Business Institute and American College of Technology and received Certificates of Completion as a Medical Secretary and in Office Computer Applications, respectively. After completing her education, Cindy worked diligently for the Environmental Protection Agency until she moved from Chicago to Carpentersville in 1985 and later to Elgin, Illinois in 2001. She worked and retired from the Elgin Police Department. She received a Certificate of Recognition for eleven years of dedicated service.
Cindy was blessed with three children; Gregory James, Major Alexander, and Alyssa Marie. She loved her children with all her heart. She will be mostly remembered by her infectious laughter and beautiful smile. Cindy loved velvet coloring, coloring books and bowling in a league with her father. She was known for her caring nature and kind loving words.
Cindy was called to heaven on the afternoon of Saturday November 18, 2017. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn (Jones) Mitchell. Cindy’s loving memory and beautiful spirit will be cherished forever by; Sons: Gregory James Mitchell and Major Alexander Mitchell (Yesenia); daughter: Alyssa Marie Mitchell (Dallas Beck); Father: Fred Lee Mitchell; Brother: Thomas Leroy Jones (Diane); Sisters: Cheryl Ann Belk (James), Sheila Delores Croft, Frieda Louise Saffold, and Yvonne Francine Mitchell; along with Trey Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
