Anton “Tony” Schuman, 68, of Gilberts, IL passed away peacefully Sunday, September 30, 2012 at home with his loving family by his side, following a hard fought battle with leukemia. Tony has found everlasting peace.
He had been a resident of Gilberts for 68 years. After graduation from Dundee High School, Tony served three years in the U.S. Army before a long fulfilling career in construction.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Darlene Schuman (nee Ewert); two children, Jill (Steve) Dieckhoff, Jacqueline (Durban) Morrow; four grandchildren, James Dieckhoff, Mitchell Dieckhoff, Madeline Morrow, Samantha Morrow; two siblings, Francis (Marvin) Row, Verona (John) Duchaj; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Beatrice, and sister Carolyn (Richard) Rath.
A funeral to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, October 6 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gilberts. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Donald Bojens officiating. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Heartland Blood Centers, St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, and Wounded Warrior Project.
