Anita L. Cardenas 84, of Streamwood, died Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Alexius Hospital, Hoffman Estates.  The daughter of Tereso and Patrocina (Rodriguez) Luna, she was born April 3, 1933 in Celaya, Guanajuato, MX. 

She loved to dance and enjoyed gardening.  She was a proud member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She worked as a machine operator for several local businesses and worked in the kitchen for the Grand Victoria Casino.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Eucario who died in 1975; one brother, Filigonio.

She is survived by four daughters, Celia Cuevas of Aurora, Mary Abella of Elgin, Herlinda (John) Richardson of Hanover, VA., Elizabeth (Benjamin) Gutierrez of Elgin; three sons; Esteban (Rosa) Cardenas Weslaco, TX., Jose (Maria) Cardenas of Elgin, Jesus Cardenas of Streamwood; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the O’Connor – Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin.  Funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 am, Friday, April 21st, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 272 Division St. Elgin.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Elgin.
