Marjorie Diane Smith, age 87 passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home in Savannah, TN surrounded by her family.
Marjorie was born on February 25, 1933 in LeFlore County, MS to Hugh C. Earls and Eldee Earls. She was wed on May 25, 1956 to David T. Smith her childhood sweetheart. To their union was born 8 children, 4 girls (Alpha, Karen, Wanner and Eleanor), 4 boys (Reginald, David Jr, Hugh and Robert). They enjoyed 63 years of marriage together.
Marjorie followed in her father’s footsteps and went on to become a Chef by trade where she worked in the industry for over 50 years. She was a Christian and attended the Church of Christ. She had a passion for cooking and a big heart for helping people. She believed in feeding the body and the soul. She was known in the communities that she lived in for her food and hospitality outside of her work. She never met a stranger and was known lovingly to children in the neighborhood as “momma”. Her house was always full of people and kids. She had a motto; “You never know whose life you can touch with a little kindness”. She had a big imagination, great sense of humor, a beautiful smile and a loving spirit. She loved all the neighborhood children and would treat them as her own, that also meant that she would spank the hiney if you were disobedient.
