Pre-Planning
No one wants to think about their own mortality, but pre-planning a funeral can be important decision. After the passing of loved one, there is often feelings of guilt, stress, and indecision which can make planning a service difficult. Pre-planning allows the individual or family to make the decisions beforehand, with the benefit of time and the benefit of guidance from your loved one to help honor their wishes.
Pre-planning also provide another benefit of paying for funeral services as today's rate and not worrying about how you will cover the expense in the future. Simply knowing everything is taken care of will give both you and your family peace of mind.
Pre-planning covers many areas, from the type of service one would like, religious or cultural practices, and how the departed would like to be remembered. Some things you should consider beforehand are:
- Family History/Biography of the departed
- Music, Poems, or Other Readings you would like included in the service.
- Special prayers and/or attendance by clergy to the service.
- Memorial service and speakers.
- A guest list of those who would be invited to the service.
